CSN Session – 07/06/20

Here are my notes from today’s session:

This week’s Topic: Put yourself outside of your Comfort Zone to discover more success.

Look at your career from a different perspective
Maybe consider a ’side-hustle/gig’ or something that allows you to be successful with out a ‘job’
Networking is outside of my comfort zone – yet I gotta do this.
I used to be a coder, then became a Project Manager. Maybe look at ‘coding’ again – something new, again.
Sometimes I procrastinate when I have to something for myself, ie – asking for help for myself.
Not networking, thus no new contacts. Maybe lost opportunities I did not know about.
Being too focused, not thinking.
We will get out of our comfort zone when we find people who can encourage us. Someone gives us a ’nudge’ to try something. Connect with others who can reassure us that it may not be that hard to do.

This week’s Interview question: Why do you want to become a supervisor?
IE – last few years, I’ve been the lead and I look forward to going back, lead a group, lead the function, and develop people. I’m excited about that opportunity.
WB Feedback – Give an example, how you created value as a lead.
TB – find a way to tie the response to the position, maybe with a question.

What are you doing this week to move your self forward in your career journey?
IE – I don’t have any big conversations scheduled. Maybe discussing side gig ideas. Working on 30-second commercial. Researching new companies. Maybe an interview this week
WB – Investing time researching companies with possible remote positions, then work to network into the right people in those companies. Practicing Mock Interviews, judging your response.
SR – Researching new companies where remote positions, Reaching out to the network for conversations
RK – Network with Inez, looking for online instruction work, Self Development work, Contact CBriggs

Your target companies &/or individuals – share in chatbox, in what role.
How do we find more remote positions?
Maybe look at sites that promote remote jobsMaybe find people who are doing remote work today
It all starts with a conversation
This week’s challenge – Evaluate what your comfort zone looks like and ways you can break out of it to be more successful.
Next week topics:

  • Best Practices of Working with Recruiters
  • Why do you want to become a supervisor?
