Searching for Businesses

Searching for BusinessesSearching for Businesses during your Job Search

Searching for Businesses can discover ideas we have not heard of yet.

In Job Search we often “chase” the same companies that everyone else is chasing.

Searching for Businesses that we have not heard of is a better idea.

This is not wise. These companies may be doing lots of hiring, but no where near enough for all of us to focus on them.

Furthermore, there is a significant number of “hidden” companies in our cities, counties and metro-areas that are hiring. These smaller, quieter companies are not “talked” about in the public press. Find these companies and you have a greater chance of finding that next great career step.

There are lots of tools you can use to find these businesses. Many of these tools are not available to us as individuals because of the cost. However, our county libraries all have contracts with these tools and are able to make them available to us, if we have a county library card.

Get yourself a county library card and you too can use these tools.

I recommend you go to the main library in your county and have your librarian show you what tools & online resources are available to you. Then, use them.

Here is a video about Hoovers, available to me because I have a Forsyth County North Carolina library card

Get a library card, ask for help on the Online resources and use them Searching for Businesses. Find those hidden businesses and connections that can help you find that great new career step
