In a coffee shop this morning I overheard this conversation between three well dressed gentleman;
“My wife is addicted to social media.”
“Yeah, mine is too. Once I saw what happened to her, I decided it’s not going to happen to me.”
“Me neither. I won’t use that Facebook stuff or Twitter thing. Even LinkedIn, scares me. I’ll accept connecting messages, but that’s all.”
“I’m with you. I use Facebook to look at pictures of my grand kids. I use my wife’s account when she’ll let me use the Ipad. But, that’s about all I want to do with this stuff.”
Were their wives the first to use the telephone?
Have they finally accepted fax machines?
I wondered if they use email.
Do they still reject text messaging?
Just because you see someone doing something incorrectly, or doing it dangerously, does not mean it’s evil and you should never do it.
Learn to use the social media tools available to us today. Then, maybe, just maybe, you’ll see that these new ways of communicating in business and in life are not so bad.
Learn social media and you won’t fear or hate it.
Albert Einstein said, “It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.” – Don’t let this happen to you.
