Here are my notes and Links to the content I promised to share with you:
The seminar material came from this:
Step 1 – Profile – It’s not a resume – it’s a profile use bold powerful exciting statemtents
Summary Statement – Bold exciting statements about who you are and what you do. Focus on what you want to be doing and what your business is all about. (no Ads)
Experience – Enter current employer and previous jobs. Descriptions need to be bold exciting statements about what you love to do, the value you provide your employer & customers.
Skill words – select words the represent the work you do, skills you have and the value you provide to others.
Remember – use skill skill words that represent your talents & expertise and click on the skill word (in your profile list) and add Proficiency & years experience. Try using Google to see if you show up. This will occur if you engage enough on LI.
Know your Settings – look at Settings under your name (upper right corner under your name. Look at ALL OF the Settings – choose what you want for you.
Step 2 – Connect – Always only connect with people you know (this does not necessarily mean have met, but its a good thing if you have. Be honest about your connection reason and your personal note to the person.
Accept all connection requests that are relevant and honest. If you do not know the person, do not hesitate to ignore. If you think you know the person – respond back with out accepting and ask them why they want to connect. Any reasonable response – accept them.
Step 3 – Contribute, collaborate thru Groups – Join Groups that are relevant to what you do and what you are interested in. Join Groups where you contacts hang out. When you join a group get ENGAGED! This means to Contribute – share TRUHE (Transparent, Relevant, Useful, Honest, Engaging) content to each individual Group. Either information that you create yourself or content you find on other websites that you want to share. You also need to Collaborate by engaging in existing discussions where you have a TRUHE opinion and or discussion point.
Step 4 – Help others – Introduce your friends to other LinkedIn connections where relevant and useful. Introduce your connections to good groups that they can benefit from. This is a great way to Give and build relationships.
Here are some additional notes I promised you:
Don’t want to be exposed on the internet – Privacy is not a big concern on LinkedIn as long as you don’t post your phone number, home address, marriage status, etc. Only share content that you would share with a complete stranger.
How much time should I spend on LinkedIn – look at this LinkedIn Investment post
Steve suggested that he pays attention to what his competition does. Look at your competition to see who does a good job or not – pay attention.
How to setup a new company page – check out this page on LinkedIn – Add New Company. Follow the prompts. Don’t try to do it all at once – it’s a work in process.
