Job Seekers LinkedIn Groups

As of today 12/9/2011 there are 1,133,327 Groups in LinkedIn. Some say, a Group or two for everyone regardless of your interest, career or business.

Groups are where people gather virtually, but many meet in real life as well. These people gather in these groups to share relevant and interesting information. Groups is the best place for you to Contribute, Collaborate, Connect and Cram with other LinkedIn members.

Good Groups are the ones where the members believe transparent participation provides a mutually beneficial environment for all who join. The Triad area Groups are very well attended by good people. I recommend that you join any of the Triad area Groups, where relevant to you.

For our Job Seeker friends in the Triad area of North Carolina (High Point, Greensboro & Winston-Salem) I know of at least 10 active and open groups worth joining and participating in.

Linking Winston-Salem

Job Openings Job Leads & Job Connections – Beyond the Triad

All of these groups are good places to hear about job openings around the Triad.

Get Noticed – It could get you a Job

I received this email this morning.  A small testament to the benefits of participating on LinkedIn. (I changed the names and locations to protect the privacy of the people involved.)

“Good morning Teddy;

Steve Yerga with Espress Roast Hotels is one of your 2nd Level LinkedIn Connections. He and I worked for the same parent company back in 1992-93. I was the Front Office Director at the VIA Books Hotels in Topeka KS and he was the Front Office Manager for the Sleepy Head Motels in FallBack Indiana. We even roomed together at an Espresso conference in DC.

After eighteen years of zero contact, he came across a Letter of Introduction I sent to one of his company’s properties a couple of weeks ago and we reconnected. I have an interview with him on Friday for a Hotel General Manager position in Withica NC.

Wish me luck.”

The opportunity to interview came from a well written letter of introduction to an unknown person and being seen participating on LinkedIn, thru someone else’s profile.

Participate on LinkedIn – It’s another way to be seen and it could make an interview happen.

Edict of The Day – Get Involved

Get Involved, get others involved, Believe & Participate in Life around you – this is living via @NCWiseman

Despite anything you believe or have been told, Life is meant to be lived thru involvement.

You can’t go to school and just show up and listen and just get by

You can’t get a job and just punch a clock for the pay check

You can’t sit on a couch from the day you are born until the day you die.

If you want to make something of yourself

If you want to have the slightest or greatest of difference

More importantly-

If you want to live life

Get Involved, get others involved, Believe & Participate in Life around you

Get Involved, get others involved, Believe & Participate in Life around you

This my dear friends is what Life is all about.
