Networking Experience

MoolaSavingMom called me today reminding me that my favorite Bean shop Starbucks is having a Buy One Get One (BOGO) Free deal.

Fortunately my schedule changed so I went there this afternoon.

I stood in line waiting for my turn.  I intended to buy one for me and give the guy behind me a free cup of coffee.  But the lady in front of me had a better idea.

She was ordering a Venti Frappuccino.  I heard the Barista tell her that she could Buy one and get one free.  She turned around and asked, “Does anyone want a free Venti Frap? I’m buying”

There were a few people behind me and I waited for just a few seconds before I responded, “Sure, I’d love it.”  I offered to split the cost of the first one and she said to ne, “Absolutely not.  I’m buying.”  I thanked her as she paid and we walked away from the counter to wait for our Fraps.

It gets more interesting.

I introduced myself to Maria and asked her what she does.  We chatted for a few minutes. I told her that my daughter called me about this deal.  She asked me how did my daughter know about this since she was not there.  I said, “My daughter is MoolaSavingMom.”

As soon as I said MoolaSavingMom one of the ladies in the shop belted out, “I know her, I Love MoolaSavingMom.”  Almost immediately another lady called out, “I know MoolaSavingMom.  She has saved me a ton this year.”

I beamed a little as Maria asked me to tell her what my daughter does.  I explained to her about the free coupon seminars, blog, facebook page, Google+ page and twitter feed. I asked Maria what she does and learned about her internship @ WFU Baptist Medical and her work trying to find a job.  She asked me what I do and I introduced her to Networking for Mutual Benefit, Social Media as a Relationship tool and NCWiseman.  It was an enjoyable conversation and I got a free Venti Frappuccino.

On my way home with my free Venti Frappuccino I called my daughter and told her I ran into another one of her MoolaSavingMom friends. These encounters are happening more and more lately.  When I got home, I went online to check my Social Media stuff. I hit MoolaSavingMom‘s Facebook page and found this post:

I love to Network and meet new people.  I equally love to get Free bean and meet fans of my daughter’s work.
